Building a new home in Beveridge VIC
New homes in Beveridge go up in Mandalay's later stages, in smaller releases such as Alkyra and, increasingly, in the precincts planned between the township and Wallan. Most are single and double storey homes on waffle pod slabs. The items that cost the most to fix later are structural and covered quickly, so the slab and frame visits carry the most weight.
Where the new lots are
Building activity sits in the later Mandalay stages, boutique releases like Alkyra and the precinct structure plan areas around Beveridge North West and Beveridge Central. Check your estate's design guidelines before you sign a build contract, as they shape facade materials and fencing.
The slab sets the tone
Waffle pod slabs rely on the beams between the pods. On Beveridge slabs we have measured beams squeezed below their designed width by pods that moved while steel was placed.
Frame is about load paths
The serious frame findings here are about where loads land: trusses on walls never meant to carry them, tie-downs left out, bracing walls cut through.
Plumbing meets the walls
Waste points poured in the wrong place show up at frame. Finding them then avoids a wall built around the wrong spot.
Keep the paper trail
Send each report to the builder the day it arrives and keep their reply. If an item is carried forward to the next stage, the record is already there.
